What Barbados actually pays
The state pays cash against qualified spend. No tax liability needed, no broker, no discount — the cleanest structure for an independent production.
Grants & funds
Grant funds and fellowships available to productions here, including national programs. Awarded competitively rather than earned on spend.
Cultural Industries Development Act Audio-Visual Concessions
Not a rate on production spend. An approved producer of audio-visual content is exempt from duties and taxes on imported production equipment and on equipment and materials for building production facilities; deducts 100% of expenditure on producing and acquiring local films; deducts 150% of training, marketing, product development and research expenditure; and may obtain a Ministerial concession exempting up to 60% of a specially qualified individual's assessable income from Barbados income tax when the skill is unavailable locally.

The rule to remember
Announced in the 2026-27 Budget on 16 March 2026; no guidelines or legislation setting the base, minimum spend or caps have been published. Confirm terms in writing with Invest Barbados before budgeting.

Common questions
- Does Barbados have a film tax incentive?
- Barbados has no statewide film incentive as of our last review on 2026-10-12. City or county programs may still apply, and neighboring states often do offer programs worth structuring around.
Verify before you budget. These figures come from our own incentives database and each shows when it was last reviewed — but programs change between funding cycles and legislative sessions. Confirm with the film office, or ask us, before a number goes into a budget.

Programs in a similar rate band. The mechanism matters as much as the percentage — a transferable credit at 30% is not the same money as a cash grant at 30%.
