How to apply

A Serbian legal entity or entrepreneur producing on behalf of the foreign investor files the grant request through Film Center Serbia (Koce Popovica 9/III, Belgrade) under the permanently open public call, no later than the start of shooting, with the budget in dinars, schedule, shooting plan, investor contract and proof that at least 20% of Serbian production costs are secured. The incentive commission confirms eligibility. Within 45 days after production in Serbia ends, the applicant files the payment request with a full independent audit of all qualified costs. The Ministry of Culture signs the grant contract and pays within 60 days of its final decision into the applicant's Treasury sub-account; the applicant must pass the funds to the investor within 10 working days.

The rule to remember

File through Film Center Serbia before the first shooting day with at least 20% of the Serbian budget secured; fees count only for Serbian citizens and foreigners resident in Serbia for at least one year.

Common questions

What is the Serbia film tax incentive rate?
Serbia offers 25% to 30% on qualified in-state spend through the Serbia Cash Rebate for Audiovisual Production. It is a rebate. A cash payment back on qualified spend, usually after an audit. Like a grant in practice, though often funded from a capped pool.
What is the minimum spend for the Serbia film incentive?
Serbian portion of the production budget must exceed: feature film or TV film EUR 300,000; TV series EUR 150,000 per episode; animated series EUR 150,000 per episode; animated film or audio and/or visual post-production EUR 150,000; advertising film EUR 150,000; documentary film or documentary TV program EUR 50,000. Verify before you budget. These figures come from our own incentives database and each shows when it was last reviewed — but programs change between funding cycles and legislative sessions. Confirm with the film office, or ask us, before a number goes into a budget.

QUICK CALCULATOR

What could Serbia be worth?

A first-pass estimate with the arithmetic shown, so you can check it rather than trust it. Switch states right here to test the same budget elsewhere, or line up to five states up side by side on the compare page.

Compare with

Programs in a similar rate band. The mechanism matters as much as the percentage — a transferable credit at 30% is not the same money as a cash grant at 30%.
